Maytag top-load washers use either a belt-drive or direct-drive system depending on the model. The most common spin failure causes are a worn clutch assembly (belt-drive) or a failed motor coupling (direct-drive). Lid switch failures can also prevent spinning as a safety lockout. Dryer Squeaking or Thumping
